The 1st shopping centre in the Netherlands specializing exclusively in the sale of recycled items.
Opened in 2015, this revolutionary shopping centre called Retuna, an hour’s drive from Stockholm, strives to be an ecological model.
The centre is located near a recycling plant, which provides it with raw materials:
- Users deposit their waste (materials, furniture, clothing, decorative objects or electronic devices) at the plant, whose employees first sort them.
- Then, the employees of the shopping centre refine the sorting and select the items to be repaired, recycled, converted and finally sold.
- In parallel, the shopping centre organises workshops, conferences and events around sustainability and the circular economy.
