DISCOVER THIS REPLICA OF A SCOTTS RESTAURANT, LOCATED IN CHINA AND MADE OF PAPER THANKS TO A 3D SCAN!

Discover Scotts, the new restaurant in the city of Chengdu, China! This stunning restaurant is an identical replica of a Fish & Chips from the north of England. The idea of creating a Scott Chengdu came from the popularity of British Fish & Chips among Chinese tourists. Then, a Chinese consortium approached Tony Webster, the owner of the York restaurant.

This one is made entirely of paper, from 3D scanning. Behind this incredible design is the creative agency “Unknown Works” based in London and Hong Kong. Moreover, the latter has succeeded in skilfully responding to the problem of space by creating a modular and unfolding facade. Thus, the 33 m² restaurant can “open” and offer outdoor tables thanks to the furniture integrated into the facade, offering a living space to customers. The tables unfold like paper panels, similar to the famous origami! The facade, a central element of the concept, is made of white fibre-reinforced plastic. In addition, the 3D scanning technique has made it possible to reproduce details such as fake carpentry or wallpaper textures, emblematic of the British Fish & Chips spirit.

Halfway between modernity and tradition, the rest of the retail design remains minimalist: entirely white, tiles serve as decoration inside the restaurant. The only touch of colour is a red neon to present the name of the restaurant SCOTTS.

What if tomorrow, everyone could make their own business with 3D scanning?
